Earlsdon

Situated within the sought after south to southwestern quadrant of Coventry, Earlsdon alongside its neighbouring suburb Styvechale represent some of the most desirable residential locations within the city.
Historically in the mid 1800's Earlsdon was a hub of activity with the development for the watch making industry and even though this industry fell into decline the development of the area continued and the suburb became part of the city.
Albany Road, which helped provide more convenient access to the remainder of Coventry, named after the Duchess of Albany, was opened in 1897 and lead to the second surge of development within this now bustling residential suburb.
By the 1920's Earsldon had all but been fully developed, so that in essence the vast majority of the property stock comprises doorstep, cottage style and bay fronted Victorian terraced accommodation although there are a number of reclaimed factory sites which now provide the location for executive department developments.
Earlsdon Street which forms the Focal point of the suburb and is locally known as the High Street, contains a number of pubic houses and great restaurants from Indian and Italian to 'A La Carte' dining, there are also a scattering of local shops and a library within the immediate vicinity.
Further features of the suburb include the War Memorial Park, Coventry's premier park, which hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, Hearsall golf club (which is over 100 years old) and the celebrated Criterion Theatre.
Within a mile from central Earlsdon both Coventry and Canley railway stations can be found whilst the nearby A45 provides access to the M45 to the east and the M42 to the west and the subsequent national motorway network.
